What is CBD?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol, and is one of the most prominent of over 60 compounds found in cannabis. THC, the more commonly known compound in cannabis, is the psychoactive part of the plant that makes users feel “high.” Unlike THC however, CBD is entirely non-psychoactive, and therefore does not manifest any impairment to motor skills, information processing, or any of the other side effects commonly associated with cannabis use. On the contrary, CBD use has been anecdotally shown to be reduce inflammation, anxiety, blood sugar levels, nausea, and has been scientifically proven to treat some types of epilepsy.

How is CBD consumed?

There are many different preparations of CBD, and there are almost as many different methods of consuming it. After isolating the compound in the laboratory, CBD is put into capsules, tinctures, waxes, creams, sprays, and more. Here at Impact Positive, we believe that tinctures–liquid based preparations in various concentrations–are the best method of delivery, and are therefore focusing our production in that direction. Ideal dosage is still a topic of discussion in the community, as things like individual metabolism can play a huge role in how much CBD is actually absorbed by the body. With that in mind, our tinctures are a mix of pure CBD, coconut-derived MCT oil, and Grapeseed oil, and come with a dropper to fine-tune the dosage that works best for you.

Using the dropper, the CBD oil is placed under the tongue and left there to absorb for approximately 30 seconds. We recommend starting with one-half dropper, twice per day, and increasing dosage up to a maximum of one full dropper, three times per day.

Is CBD safe?

As with anything you ingest, it is always best to consult a licensed physician before taking CBD. That being said, CBD has been shown to be extremely safe to consume. Our tincture blend contains MCT oil derived from coconut, so barring any allergies to coconut, this product should only bring you beneficial results.

What is MCT oil?

MCT stands for “medium-chain triglycerides” which are a type of beneficial fatty acid in a way similar to the beneficial Omega-3’s found in foods like avocados and salmon. These MCTs have many health benefits that include improved cognitive function and weight management. Many people have heard of MCTs in some way or another, often times through references to Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Coffee, and its proliferation in popular culture continues to increase. Unlike the MCTs found in Bulletproof Coffee, however, our MCTs are derived from coconuts–a notoriously abundant source.

New research in human health and wellbeing has argued that healthy fats should make up anywhere between 50-70 percent of your daily caloric intake, as vital organs like your brain are largely made up of fatty acids and need adequate fuel for proper functioning. In the case of keeping your heart healthy, MCTs are by definition easier to digest and are more effective at keeping your diet in check than other long-chain triglycerides. Simply put–a healthy diet means a healthier heart!

What is Grape seed oil?

Grape seed oil is quite literally just that: oil pressed from the seeds of grapes. Unlike other vegetable oils in this class, it has zero trans fat, is non-hydrogenated, and is a good source of vitamin E. It is mostly comprised of polyunsaturated fats like omega-6s which convert into several beneficial acids in the body, namely gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) As is the case with CBD, these GLAs might be able to lower cholesterol levels and inflammation. In one study, grape seed oil was shown to improve inflammatory condition and even insulin resistance in overweight/obese women. Another benefit of grape seed oil is its ability to produce conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the human gut and in studies has shown to help with things like weight loss, cancer reduction, the treatment of cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis.

Why take the CBD Oil Tincture under the tongue?

Taking CBD Oil under the tongue, known as sublingual delivery, is the most effective way of getting your body to make use of the CBD itself. Thanks to the ample quantity of blood vessels under the tongue, the CBD is easily absorbed into the bloodstream. If you were to swallow the oil directly, the liver breaks down the CBD before it can be sufficiently absorbed.
